Contributing to the Cookie Table

Thank you so much for being willing to contribute to our cookie table! A cookie table is a beloved Pittsburgh wedding tradition, featuring Italian, Polish, and other immigrant-inspired cookies like pizzelles, kolaches, and lady locks. We're also planning to have some "cookie" hors d’oeuvres like cheesy shortbreads and savory tartlets. We'd love to have you make a family recipe, or a recipe that's meaningful

to you, but we'll also have a list of cookies for you to choose from if you'd like help deciding what to make! Reach out to Patience to talk all things cookie table

Cookie Table Tips:

  • Be sure to check in with Patience about the type and quantity of cookies you're bringing

  • BANNED INGREDIENTS: Please do not bring cookies with oats or peanuts. There will also be no tomatoes or shellfish in the food at the wedding. Thank you for accommodating our guests with severe allergies.

  • Make sure your cookies are labeled to indicate their ingredients, especially alcohol, dairy, eggs, other common allergens (e.g. sesame, soy, or tree nuts like almonds, walnuts, etc.) or any non-vegetarian ingredients (lard or gelatin).

    • You do not need to make your cookies vegan or gluten free, but we hope that those of you who are confident in accommodating dietary restrictions in your baking will contribute some delicious vegan and/or gluten-free cookies!

  • When in doubt, make the cookies smaller, that way people can try more!

  • Please bring your cookies on a plastic platter or tray, ideally one that you would be willing to part with at the end of the night.

  • Please, if you are invested in making sure that something you bring to the wedding comes back to you, write your phone number on it in case you're not able to grab it before you leave.

  • If you are bringing cookies, please enter through the side entrance of the church through the parking lot and take the cookies to the refectory before the ceremony
